Most hockey leagues are at the end of their regular season or just over the halfway mark so an update on polish players playing outside of Poland.
North America
Szymon Niedlich. Age:16. Defenseman. Bradford Rattlers of the GMHL (Canada).
Niedlich was moving through the MKS Sokoly Torun junior system and for this season decided to make the jump to North America. In 33 games with the Rattlers, he has put up six assists. The GMHL is a weaker league but can be stepping stone for some players.
Kamil Sadlocha. Age:16. Center. Chicago Mission 16U of the NAPHL 16U and HPHL U16 (USA).
This year Sadlocha has 26 points in 27 games with the Chicago Mission u16 team. He has committed to Ohio State(NCAA) for the 2018-2019 season. He is already a notable prospect for the 2017 draft. Sadlocha will be representing the USA nationally instead of Poland.
Filip Starzynski. Age:23. Center. Northern Michigan Univ. of the NCAA (USA)
Starzynski is the former captain of Poland’s u20 team. He is back to playing hockey after taking a year off. This year with NMU he has 1 goal and 4 assist in 28 games while mostly playing a bottom 6 role with NMU.
Alan Lyszczarczyk. Age:17. Center. Sudbury Wolves of the OHL(Canada)
After making the Wolves out of training camp, Alan has been one of the Wolves’ best forwards. In 52 games, he has 13 goals and 28 assists. The future is bright for the Wolves as their forward core of Levin, Sokolov, and Lyszczarczyk will be repping the Wolves for a few more years. In the NHL’s central scouting rankings, Alan came in at 119th and is projected to be a third-round pick. He will be the first Pole drafted since Marcin Kolusz in 2003.
Dominik Olszewski.Age:16. Forward. Springfield Jr. Pics of the USPHL.(USA)
Olszewski was playing in the German junior system before making the jump to NA this year. He has played with both the Springfield u16 and u18 team. In 25 games with the U16 team, he has 18 goals and 21 assists with the U18 team he has 2 assist in 9 games.
Radoslaw Sawicki.Age:20. Center. Hampton Roads Whalers of the USPHL Elite.(USA)
Sawicki is having a great year with the Whalers in 44 games, he has 22 goals and 38 assists. Most players in the USPHL Elite commit to a college. Most alumni play in the NCAA III or ACHA. It will be interesting to see if Sawicki chooses the college hockey route or returns to Poland.
Konrad Cwikla.Age:20. Defenseman. Hampton Roads Whalers of the USPHL Elite.(USA)
Cwikla followed Sawicki over and in 44 games has had 2 goals and 9 assists. Cwikla is in the same boat as the Sawicki with the season almost over and their future up in the air.
Tomasz Skokan.Age:17. Defenseman. Kalkaska Rhinos of the USPHL Midwest.(USA)
Skokan just joined the Rhinos recently and has had a big impact in those games with 9 points in 7 games. Before joining the Rhinos, Skokan played with STS Sanok, STS, Sanok U20, and SMS U20 Sosnowiec. He also was part of the Poland u20 team that took home silver at the WJC Div 1 B.
Michal Wojciehchowski. Age:15. Defenseman. Winnipeg Hawks City Midget of the WCML(Canada)
Michal has 2 goals and 3 assist in 35 games this year. A lot of WCML alumni have gone on to play in the WHL one of the top junior leagues in Canada.
