It is February, everyone’s seasons are past their midway point and the playoff pushes are on. It was a better month overall for the prospects.
Alan Lyszczarczyk. Forward. Owen Sound Attack (OHL) 38 GP 11 Goals 11 Assists 22 Points.
Lyszczarczyk has played great since the World Juniors. In January he posted 4 goals and 4 assist in 12 games. He also was averaging 2.66 shots on goal per game. After a rough November, Lyszczarczyk is getting back to the player, who we expected him to be.
Filip Starzynski. Forward. Northern Michigan (NCAA) 29 GP 2 Goals 1 Assist 3 Points.
Starzynski had a quiet February. He is also is getting less work at center for Northern Michigan. Still a reliable faceoff guy, but a move to the wing really limits his impact.
Tomasz Skokan. Defensemen. Kalkaska Rhinos (USPHL Premier) 17 GP 1 Goal 3 Assists 4 Points.
Skokan has returned to Poland and is playing for GKS Katowice. It is good for him to get out of the weird team that was the Kalkaska Rhinos. You can read more about the team folding and the controversy around their coach, former Polish national team defenseman, Krzysztof Oliwa here. For Skokan, this is a good move. Katowice is a good team and playing meaningful games against men is better than the USPHL Premier.
Mateusz Wawrzkiewicz. Forward. Tampa Bay Juniors (USPHL Elite) 28 GP 14 Goals 17 Assists 31 Points.
Wawrzkiewicz strong season has continued. He sits 2nd in points and points per game among players under 17 in the UPSHL Elite. I really hope Poland takes him to the U18 World Championships. The kid can score.
Oskar Rzekanowski. Forward. Bradford Rattlers (GMHL) 35 GP 13 Goals 21 Assists 34 Points
Rzekanowski career-best GMHL season has continued. In 10 games since our last update, he has 3 goals and 3 assists. He has now set a career high in goals, assists, and points. He is also the attracting interest from some lower level American minor league teams.
Michal Wojciechowski. Defensemen. River East Royal Knights (MMJHL) 33 GP 1 1 Goal 2 Assists 3 Point.
The Knights still sit in last placed in the MMJHL with 2 wins, but Wojciechowski had his best month offensively with a goal and an assist. We will probably see him back at this year’s U18 and I’m excited to see how he has developed as there are no ways to watch MMJHL online.
