While Poland was relegated from the top division, we saw Tauron Hokej Liga teams load up to make a run at the top. GKS Katowice locked up quite a bit of young talent, Podhale grabbed a few North Americans, Cracovia found a goalie, and a THL legend left for the British league.

Cracovia Krakow

  • Cracovia has their starting goalie with Canadian Alex D’Orio. The Quebec native developed in the QMHL before playing in the AHL and ECHL with the Penguins’ organization. D’Orio appeared in Sweden’s HockeyAllsvenskan for the past two years before transferring to Norway midseason, where he won a championship.

GKS Katowice

  • Katowice has locked up a trio of young forwards: Jakub Hofman, Jonasz Hofman, and Maksymilian Dawid. The three will likely spend most of their time in the MHL with Naprzod Janow while also getting time with Katowice. All three represented Poland at the Division 1 Group B U20 World Championship while also playing for SMS PZHL Katowice in the MHL. 
  • Another young player will be staying at GKS Katowice in Blazej Chodor. The teenage defender appeared in 28 games last year in the top Polish league and scored 23 points (7G-16A-23PTS) in 22 MHL games. Chodor represented Poland at the 2024 Division 1 Group U20 World Championship.

GKS Tychy

  • Polish national team forward Filip Komorski is staying with the club he captains. The Warszawa native has played for Tychy since 2016, except for a year in Czechia. He is one of the top snipers in the country, and he scored 24 goals in the THL last season. Komorski scored Poland’s second goal against Germany at the 2024 IIHF World Championship.

JKH GKS Jastrzebie

  • Former Czech U18 defender Jakub Žůrek will stay in Poland but move to Jastrzebie. The 6’4 defender scored twice last year while adding eight assists. He had previously primarily played in the Chance Liga but had appeared in the Tipsport Extraliga along with the SHL.

KH Torun

  • THL journeyman Patryk Kogut is continuing with Torun for a second straight season. The assistant captain recorded 18 points (6G-12A-18PTS) in 42 games in his 15th THL season. Kogut is a four time champion from his time with GKS Tychy.

Podhale Nowy Targ

  • Jean Dupuy is returning to Poland after a season away in Japan. The 6’3 forward played with GKS Tychy from 2021 to 2023, recording 106 points (48G-58A-106PTS) in 127 games. He had previously spent time in the AHL, EIHL, ECHL, and Ligue Magnus.
  • Dupuy’s teammate in Japan Alexandre Boivin, and Tychy, will also join Podhale. Boivin had 45 points (15G-30A-45PTS) in his lone season with Tychy in 2023. He had previously played in France and the ECHL before coming to Poland. Boivin was fifth in scoring last year in the Asia League with 20 goals and 26 assists in only 28 games. 
  • After a five-year run with GKS Tychy, Christian Mroczkowski is heading the Podhale. He had been one of the best scoring players in the THL, recording a point per game or better year in his first four seasons. He managed 30 points (14G-16PTS) this past year in 52 games. The Polish Canadian gained a Polish passport and represented the country during the 2021 international season.

STS Sanok

  • There are no moves yet this offseason for Sanok.

Unia Oswiecim

  • In a rare multi-year deal with an import, Belarusian defender Roman Dyukov signed a three-year agreement with Oswiecim. The 28-year-old played his 2nd season with the club last year, recording 20 points (3G-17A-20PTS). He represented Belarus at the 2016 and 2018 IIHF World Championships. His brother, goalie Anton Dyukov, played for UHT Sabres Oswiecim in the EUHL and MHL last year.

Zaglebie Sosnowiec

  • To begin a busy week for Sosnowiec, they re-upped assistant captain Roman Szturc. A longtime winger in the top Czech league, he played 14 seasons, mainly with HC Vítkovice. 2025 will be his third year in Poland after playing with GKS Tychy in 2023 and Sosnowiec last season. 
  • The captain is staying put as Michał Kotlorz re-signed on a one-year deal. The former Polish national team defender will suit up for his 19th THL season. In his four-time championship career, he has scored 300 points (87G-213A-300PTS) in 879 games. 
  • Fan favorite and star forward Damian Tyczyński will also be staying with Sosnowiec. The playmaker posted 25 assists last year, leading his club. Tyczyński was one of the final players cut from Poland from the 2024 World Championship roster. He had previously appeared in Slovakia’s top and second leagues. 
  • Serbia national team forward Mirko Djumic is staying in Poland but switching from Torun to Sosnowiec. In his debut THL season, Djumic posted 29 points (15G-14A-29PTS) in 41 games. This year at the Division 2 Group A worlds, he was named the tournament’s best forward, helping Serbia win a silver medal. 
  • Matt Sozanski is also switching from Torun to Sosnowiec. The Canadian defender with Polish roots had a solid first year in the THL with three goals and eight assists. In his first game with the club, he scored a goal, assisted on one, and netted the shootout winner.

Polish Players Abroad

  • THL legend Michael Cichy is leaving Poland to sign with the Fife Flyers in the EIHL. Former GKS Katowice head coach Tom Coolen coaches the Flyers. Cichy spent ten years in Poland, playing 488 games and recording 572 points (240G-332A-572PTS). The former Hab’s 7th-round pick set the Polish scoring record with 113 points in the 2016 season with Sanok. Cichy also appeared for the Polish national team from 2016 to 2018. 
  • 24-year-old national team forward Adam Kiedewicz has signed with German club VER Selb in the DEL2. He has 35 points (17G-18A-35PTS) in 142 DEL2 games over the past three seasons with Dresdner Eislöwen. He first appeared for Poland’s senior team at last year’s Baltic Challenge Cup.
