In December, the men’s national team will play two exhibition games against Ukraine. On the 13th and 14th, the two countries will face-off in Sanok. The team will be joined by its newest import, Kamil Sadlocha.

Kamil Sadlocha was born in Sosnowiec, Poland, but moved to the United States at a young age. His father, Piotr Sadlocha, had played professional hockey in Poland and Czechia and represented the Polish national team at the 1998 World Championships. Kamil Sadlocha worked his way up Illinois junior hockey, eventually playing in a handful of games for the US National Development program.

After his junior career, Sadlocha committed to Ohio State University and played at the school for five years, recording 32 points (17G-15A-32 PTS) in 110 games. During his final NCAA season, he was sent home from the team after receiving a game misconduct for allegedly directing racial slurs at MSU’s Jagger Joshua. The NCAA did not find sufficient evidence to level further punishment, and Sadlocha would return to the team to finish the season. After his college career, the 5’11 forward came home to Poland and signed with his dad’s former club, Unia Oswiecim. In 2024, he posted 33 points (13G-20A-13PTS) in 53 games, helping them to a THL championship. Sadlocha would re-sign with Oswiecim this offseason, despite reported offers from stronger leagues. With playing a second season in Poland, he met the IIHF requirements to represent his birth country on the international stage.

Sadlocha will not be the only new import on the national team for December’s games. Belarus native Mikolaj Sytyi will be making his second appearance after impressing at the Tamas Sarkozy Memorial Tournament in November. The full roster features plenty of debuts as the Polish national team continues a period of transition to find who will replace the team regulars who are aging off.
